"The restaurant had a great atmosphere and delicious bread. The hotel was nice but the rooms are very, very dark. I would love additional lighting. The bathroom and shower area had some big cracks and could use some love. It was so nice that they had water and bubble water available to guests. The location is fantastic and the lobby is a dream! There was a wedding on Saturday night and our room was right next to it. With the music blaring and clean up, the noise didn't stop until 11. We have a baby and were not informed that there would be a wedding. So it may have altered our choices. There were at least 4 people in the lobby complaining about the horrific noise and lights from the wedding and the manager wasn't around to help handle those issues. "

"The room was great, and the staff were kind and very helpful! They allowed us to check in very early as our room was ready. My only complaint would be that our room did not have blackout shades on 2 of the windows, so it was quite bright in the morning. Other then that- fantastic stay!"

"Breakfast menu was very fresh and was also different every day. The staff couldn’t have been more hospitable. Parking was easy for drop off and pick up. Happy hour with wine and cheese was a nice touch. I would highly recommend to anyone."

"Great location. Enjoyed staying on the ground floor near the courtyard last week. Breakfast was just ok but nice not having to go out in the morning. No coffee, tea or microwave in room. Returned for one night before leaving for airport but this run was dark and dirty floor. Changed rooms to second floor but that room had no towels, room not finished being cleaned. Breakfast was weak."

"This was our first stay at the Loutrel and it exceeded our expectations. The lobby and bar area are beautiful. We enjoyed a full complementary breakfast with delicious bacon and eggs. They also had a happy hour on the rooftop. Great views. Our room was quiet and so comfortable. Great location. We will be back. "

"Lovely stay at The Ansonborough. Definitely sign up for the optional upgrade if it’s offered to you. I’ve stayed in many hotels across the United States, Canada and Europe. The Ansonborough has to be in the top 3 places I’ve ever stayed. We stayed in the Admiral’s Suite which was spacious and well appointed. I loved that the bathroom featured large bath sheets large enough to dry and cover a larger sized adult. So often hotels have tiny and useless towels. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. We had a spacious kitchen with a breakfast bar and dining area. There was a Keurig and a small refrigerator. I was a little surprised that there wasn’t a microwave with all the kitchen space. We had a comfortable sitting area which included a gas fireplace. Breakfast was different each morning and includes yogurt, fresh melon, oatmeal, English muffins & bagels. Coffee was available 24/7. The front desk staff was very welcoming and provided directions & restaurant recommendations. The hotel is directly across from a Harris Teeter in case you forget something or want some snacks. Parking is $35 per day which seems to be pretty standard in Charleston. The location is close to the aquarium, Ft.Sumter Museum, City Market, the horse drawn carriages and other attractions. We have some limitations walking and found these destinations to be very walkable from the hotel. There were many benches and places to rest if needed. We look forward to returning soon. "
