The Chouara Tannery of Fez, Morocco dates back to the 11th century, it operates much the same way it has since its inception. In this photo a young man dyes the hides of cows, sheep, goats, and camels inside of stone vessels. The solution that they use to clean and soften the skins is a mixtures of cow urine, pigeon feces, quicklime, salt, and water. #history
The Medina of Fes El Bali is the biggest Medina in Morocco and it´s full of life! Madrasas, fondouks, palaces, residences, mosques and fountains are everywhere!
