"The room was clean and basic. It was a bit noisy as the plumbing (I assume) sometimes banged loudly in our room. This didn’t go too late into the night and we slept well. The kitchen facilities were good and the large dining/lounge area was a great space. The whole place could do with a lick of paint and a good wipe over. "We have enjoyed a fantastic 2 night stay, the location was spot on only 2 minutes to Lake Windermere and the ferry landing point. Colin is the perfect host, very attentive, knowledgeable of the area and looked after us well. Breakfast was a lovely; full English in a cosy setting. The room was fine with all amenities. It was our birthdays whilst there and Colin decorated the room, these touches are most appreciated. Definitely recommend 10/10"

"Such a relaxing stay! Huge room with comfortable beds and plentiful tea and coffee facilities - especially nice local touch using Herdy mugs. Spa and pool were very nice, and lovely outdoor spaces to relax right on the lake. Would have loved more time to spend a lazy afternoon in the cosy surroundings getting lost in a book. Good cooked breakfast, my husband especially enjoyed the smoked haddock and poached eggs. Would love to come back and stay longer next time!"

"Throughly enjoyed our stay as a family with our dog! Staff were super friendly and so helpful and inviting. The location is great with a beautiful view of the lake. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and would definitely recommend and the breakfast was really tasty. Beds really comfortable and clean! Room has everything you need. Will be back for sure!"

"We love this hotel and its' location. Our main criticism didn't affect our stay, it's just that it is rather tired in places. Everywhere downstairs and the landing was perfect. Our bedroom furniture was very tired and the carpets had some permanent marks. The outside of the property is also very tired, a lot of paint is flaking and the gardens aren't as well maintained as they could be, lots of weeding needing to be done. It is a lovely quirky hotel and it's a shame these things let it down...

"The hotel is ideally located, well maintained and has very helpful staff. The spa is excellent and has a bar accessible directly from it. Breakfast was good and all produce tasted local. The hot tub was secluded with a great view."

"Only small gripe was the shower head had a bit of black mould on it and one roller blind came away whilst I was closing it. Luckily my husband was able to clip it back in quickly. Room and bedding both clean, grounds beautiful and well maintained. Breakfast was fantastic, quality hot cooked breakfast and very pleasant staff. We would visit again, thank you."
