"If you are travelling from Southampton Central Railway station, it is best to take a bus right at the train station and then walk 5 minutes to the hotel. About 10 minutes walk passing thru the park to many eating places."

"Lovely setting, great welcome, food superb, staff friendly and helpful We had the suite (kingfisher) which was an excellent room except for a radiator being stuck on in the bathroom. The lady in charge (lovely lass) managed to get it sorted as the outside temp was up in the 30’s!!! If I have any criticism of the room, a little use of bleach would have gone a long way but please don’t let that put you off. The place is very very good. "Great guest house, great room, great en suite, great breakfast and friendly attendant. Probably the cleanest place we've stayed in. Very close to the railway station and only a few minutes' walk into the town centre. You could hear a bit of traffic but it soon blended in to the background."

"Nice stay for one night at this hotel partly due to an early hospital appointment and partly to take advantage of the aircon during a heatwave! Rooms are compact but adequate with controllable aircon, comfortable beds and a good sized TV. As has been mentioned on other reviews bathrooms have a clear glass door which was fine as privacy is maintained due to the layout of the bathroom. Location is good for the airport and hospital. "Very old hotel but not maintained. No air conditioning and stairs involved. No hair dryers and one little round soap. No water supplied even though a heat wave was occurring in Southampton. However close to cruise docks which was helpful."

"Food poisoning the first night, rooms hotter than the sun, zero water pressure in the bathrooms. Constantly chasing staff for the most simple things. They ran out of ice. No fans for the rooms. No one collecting glasses or emptying an ash tray. Asked for a coffee in the morning and waited 15 minutes.. got up to ask where it was "oh i couldn't find you" yeah because you were in the kitchen flirting with the chef.. Could be such a wonderful place, if the staff weren't recreating Fawlty Towers"
