"The breakfast was very good for buffet with cooked options. It’s well located for Winchester but not a hotel with charming views and paying for parking on top of room charges needs looking at. Why not make it inclusive ? A fridge in the room and capsule coffee maker would be more useful than a safe. "

"Everything is excellent! The room is beautifully equipped, with superbly comfortable bed, brilliant shower, decent size bath and good Wi-fi. All staff in the pub were friendly and served us with good humour at breakfast, lunch or dinner. Food was brilliant (we ate there every night). Location was just what we were after, small village with no shops, but easy driving distance from larger centres. Plenty of walking trails nearby. Highly recommended."

"Nice location, nice room and comfy bed. One negative that we experienced was when we arrived we waited for a while before anyone came and when they did they simply gave us our key, told us our room and that was it. No warmth, not very friendly and was a bit of a shame. Left us both thinking it was a bit off. Other than that, the hotel was lovely. "

"Stayed for one night. Had an evening meal and breakfast the following morning. The food was excellent value for money. The breakfast buffet choices were amazing. We stay here every year on our way to Portugal. Just love the place. We took our two dogs with us. The staff are very friendly and really helpful."

"We visited this hotel back in September 2024 everyone was so welcoming the hotel is beautiful with breathtaking grounds and views! We decided to come back as a memory and we were fortunate enough to stay in the exact same room as last time which was very sentimental to us!! "We had a lovely stay and were made to feel extremely welcome. The room was very clean, modern and comfortable. Walking distance from town and close to multi-storey carpark, which was useful. There was a great selection for breakfast and it was possible to choose what you wanted for a cooked breakfast. Fantastic, quirky stay with mugshots of criminals lining the walls and prison doors into rooms. Would definitely stay again"

"Our stay was for a couple of days to attend a Wedding in Winchester. St John’s Croft is ideally placed within 5 minutes easy walk of the town centre, with on site parking at the property. "We stayed here for one night after a day in Winchester. A nice enough hotel, with staff pleasant enough. The room we stayed in was small but well kept. The main issue we had was that the room was that next to a staff run through, meaning doors were slammed constantly. Further, there was no air conditioning, and the room we were in at the bottom floor was next to a busy beer table and had lots and lots of mosquitoes, meaning we were bitten to heck! "Lunch was wildly expensive but breakfast was good. It would have been helpful to know we were on the 3rd floor no elevators and tiny circular stairs. For those with some mobility challenges it’s a hike!"

"Difficulties in finding room as all seem to be external chalet like, with black room numbers on a black doors. Bed ok and Bathroom good though. "

"Adequate hotel - conveniently located in the centre of Winchester. About 15 min walk from the train station. The bus station is about 5 min away. Lot of good restaurants around especially if you like Nepalese food.The hotel will store your luggage for you if you ask them to. The only thing I didn't like was the pattern on the carpet on the first floor corridor - almost like a route map for robot vacuum cleaners to follow."
