"We booked this as a last minute booking and wasn't sure ehat we were expecting but wow what a place! Beautifully designed, nice and relaxing. Staff couldnt do enough and great value for the rooms, Breakfast was lovely too! Only 20 minutes away from York City Centre will definitely be staying again"

"Overall an OK stay but not worth the price tag. Visited at half term, hotel appeared under prepared. All staff were helpful and polite but clearly under staffed so not necessarily their fault. Room not ready 2 hours after check-in, walkways not maintained, dirty glasses and plates with food on outside a lot of rooms. 1 bath robe in the room for 3 guests, toilet in the room didn't flush and whole bathroom in need of basic repairs. Bar/restaurant stopped taking food orders at 7:20pm in school...

"Simply put, we found it an excellent, convenient and high quality hotel near the centre. We particularly liked that breakfast and internet are included. We cant be bothered with other hotels that charge extra, particularly for useful internet. We will always try this hotel first when visiting York again."

"Room was big and clean with a lovely bed. Bathroom was ok but looking a bit tired. Parking was easy. Breakfast was great, everything you could want including omlettes. Didnt like the orange juice was more like orange squash. Public areas were modern and clean."

"We only stayed at Ashbourne House for one night and it was very nice. Lovely room with a Comfortable bed, great shower and towels. Plenty if tea and coffee, and if you ran out you could get more from a dish on the landing also a sweet treat if you needed it, which I thought was a nice touch. It was a bit away from restaurants and the main shopping but public buses stopped just down the road and was easy to catch and came regularly if you didn’t have a car. "The staff and grounds were amazing. Loved the garden and the character of Gray’s Court. The bed and mattress in our room are in need of an upgrade as the mattress sagged a bit and the bed frame croaked with every motion."

"Property lovely, high standard interior. Staff on reception felt a little awkward as if on guard sat at a desk near the stairs but were always friendly. Access was a little difficult due to cars parked around the entrance to the car park. I guess to avoid the additional charge per night extra charge which we paid. Upon leaving our car was covered in tree sap but it will wash off. We stayed for 4 days and no one came into our room to empty our bins, replenish toiletries or restock the hot drink...
