"The host was very friendly and responsive too! They even offered us bikes to check out free for a bike ride or to ride to town. It was so much fun. We decided we wanted to do the day train ride from Durango to Silverton but didn't have a car that day to drive to the train station. The trolley was just a block away which made it so convenient as it takes you really close to the train station and also free. Overall we loved it and would stay here again. "Overall it was a really enjoyable stay at the Matterhorn. It was quiet, the rooms were clean and well appointed, and there were plenty of great restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. The only thing I think prospective visitors need to know is that while it is a resort town, it looked like there was only one bar open past 10pm. All the other shops/restaurants close around 9pm or so. Other than that, the stay was amazing and the mountain views were absolutely stunning!"

"Nice place with a good breakfast. For EV owners there are 4 Level 2 chargers across the street at the utility company. Low rates during off peak hours. Only a few minute drive to the train ride and Main Steet shops and restaurants!"

"Great, quirky old motel updated with each room decorated according to its room number (I.e. 1980). Great nostalgic items… also enjoyed the game room and outdoor chess board. It is still a motel, but was a wonderful change of pace from your typical hotel. Breakfast was basic, but perfectly fine. Considering the price, it is a great value. We’d stay here again when staying in Cortez… no reason to consider any where else!"
