"Swimmers beware: I booked this stay specifically because of the lap pool. However, the pool is closed without an expected re-open date. The pool is still advertised everywhere. The hotel was otherwise fine, and I appreciated the included breakfast and the view from the restaurant area."

"The customer service is exceptional, to a point that my husband thought I have a special membership with the hotel. Very attentive and accommodating staff."

"Great location and nice large rooms, but the hotel feels a bit tired. Shower had mold around it. Public restroom had wallpaper that was ripping. Our room was also loud -- with lots of street noise - had to sleep with ear plugs in."

"The renovations (since it was known as the Sir Francis Drake) created a very nice and pleasant atmosphere. Noise level on the Powell Street-side was relatively high due to a combination of the trollies and late-night conversations/shouting in the street. Otherwise, the stay was fantastic. Note: I unexpectedly ended up extending my stay and was moved to another room. The noise was not an issue at all on the Union Square facing side of the hotel."

"There was nothing in the room except 2 water glasses in the bathroom. The complementary coffee downstairs was weak (and fake cream). No store to buy sodas etc. (just a vending machine). Front desk people were friendly but didn't even know the closest location to buy real coffee and a bagel. Not staying there again."
