"We had a great stay at Kyoto Granbell Hotel. Coming from Canada, we expected the room and bathroom to be quite small by our standards, and they were, but that was not a surprise and didn’t take away from the overall experience. The service was excellent, the hotel was clean and comfortable, and the food was very good. The location was also fantastic, making it very convenient to explore Kyoto and get around the area. The hotel is close to Gion and many restaurants, shops, and attractions, while still being a comfortable place to come back to after a long day. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily stay here again when visiting Kyoto."

"We stayed in 6 high end hotels/ryokans over a 2,5 week period of time. Sowaka by far the most personalized service we received. The staff is highly professional and engaging. They made great recommendations based on our needs and requests. Arriving or leaving Sowaka was met with a warm reception each time. The room was well maintained and we always returned to inspiring messages. Gion Loka provided a great culinary experience both for dinner and breakfast. The location is also hard to beat if you are looking to spend time in the HIgashiyama area. Definitely not a one night and out of there experience. Spend several days here relaxing and exploring"

Breakfast was outstanding and all the staff were truly top notch. Would definitely go back!"
