"This place was 10/10. The staff was phenomenal, so kind and helpful. From the welcome drinks to the origami given to my little one helping us get Yamato luggage forwarding situated, they gladly went above and beyond. They have complimentary umbrellas to use when it rains. Rooms are so clean and modern, although no much space for your luggage, but the in-room washer/dryer was awesome. We didn’t try out the onsen or gym but looked great. The hotel itself is so zen and impeccable. Not many kids but...

"Beautiful quiet hotel in a great area. Loved that we could walk to Gion in 15 minutes. The shuttle to Kyoto station was a nice perk. The private Onsen was great as well. "

""A"... perhaps "the" classic ryokan. Relaxed (genuine) gracefullness that is not commercial or something you can teach. It is not a material luxury experience (there are many others who fit this expectation), so much as an unintentional unmannicured view into the past of old Kyoto. Very dreamy for me at least!. It felt like returning to my granny's house in post war Setayaga. Special. There are exceptional people among the staff whose heart beats echo mine and that era."

"An amazing blend of modern with Japanese decor. Well appointed rooms with comfortable bed, amazing overhead rain shower, and decent square footage for luggage. Perfect location for shopping, Nishiki market, fabulous restaurants, etc. all walkable. The Bettei side is higher end with more in room and property amenities. I highly recommend this hotel. "
