I had booked a twin room here, they gave me room 384. As soon as i got in i saw a HUGE bed bug on the blanket just crawling around. Left the room ASAP, asked for a better room. They put on the 8th floor in a "refurbished" double room which felt a bit cleaner. The second room was alright but the first one felt really depressing...

Mattresses and pillows were harder than hard - difficult to get comfy at all. No kettle in room. Very basic black metal beds - the bedframe stuck out beyond the mattress, so we both bashed our legs on them. Restaurant was good for dinner - very fast service.

Room was adequate for our purpose, ie watching a show, very good location. However the check in system was poor, i was sent a request a few days before to check in on line with credit card details and when we arrived i reaslised why. We were approx 3/4 hr early for check in and totally understood that, as with all hotels if the room isnt ready you cant have it, however we were told that if we wanted to check in early it would be £20, and if we wanted to leave our bags, that would be £10 each. Very unusual and meant we had to hang around the area waiting instead of dropping off thw bags and getting on with our day. Seems as if the hotel took any opportunity to try and get money, also warned that if we checked out late, even a few mins, we would be charged. I will say that staff did make this clear and they were all helpful, but the policies and extra charges for everything means i would not use again

Det ble ikke skiftet håndduker. Aeiconditng var vanskelig å regulere. Servicen er kuttet til et minimum så til tross for at jeg har brukt hotellet flere ganger så blir det ikke flere. Neste tur til London finner jeg ett annet hotell.

I've been a regular visitor to the st Giles hotel, now known as STG. It's under different management. Check in time is 3pm and they now charge £10 per bag to store them. 3 bags storage for checking in and for checking out £60 total. Factor this extra cost in when booking. Also, dirty walls in the room and no room cleaning unless you pay an extra cost again.

Has changed since my last stay, it now has different owners. Self check in and out is now in place and whilst it works there’s no substitute for real reception. Room was clean as normal, along with the hotel on general. You no longer get tea/coffee making facilities in your room, which is a shame, especially as it was still listed as being provided when I booked and paid for my stay. Breakfast used to be a buffet, but now you have a choice of a buffet or à la carte. The à la carte I think is an improvement on the buffet breakfast you used to get. I didn’t try the buffet this stay, so can’t comment on how it compares. Luggage storage is still provided for guests, but is now charged at £10 an item where I never had to pay before. Whilst there has been changes made since my previous stay, I assume to bring it in line with the new owners other hotels and reduce running costs, the hotel remains a good place to stay if you’re planning on a city break in London. Ideally placed for a lot of the theatres and Oxford St shopping. I will be back again.

A very strange experience at the STG Hotel Oxford Street, formally the St Giles Hotel! ELEVATORS: Ask for a lower floor so you can use the stairs. The elevators are very slow and busy, at all times of the day. It's a huge hotel. CHECK-IN: Do so online. Management removed the reception -- yes, it's now a large empty room. There's no self-serve option either. Check-in was two guys sharing one old laptop and no printer for receipts. ROOMS: Heating did not work. Unusual layout. Small windows. But reasonably comfortable (hard) beds. The various rooms types are likely not worth the difference. BREAKFAST: Excellent buffet, tasty food, large selection. OUR EXPERIENCE: Within the one month from booking our room, to online check-in, to our four-night stay, and finally to checkout, the hotel amenities and offers decreased significantly. We booked a full-service hotel and received a hotel in transition, where basics like a registration desk, in-room kettles/tea/coffee, etc., no longer existed. The hotel is now aimed at large student groups, not couples nor families. Hopefully they will choose a concept and implement it quickly. Personally, I'd recommend waiting until then to decide on booking.

Convenient location. Modern lobby appearance with self check in and out. Staff wee on hand to assist if needed. My room appearance didn’t meet my expectation. The room was small but clean. Wi-Fi worked. The room didn’t have a coffee pot or a telephone for emergencies.

I have stayed at this hotel 6 times previously with no problems. The location has always been the main draw, however i always found everything else to be of a reasonable standard. This time, no real lock on door, 1 hand towel for 2 people, no other towels. Carpet in room was damp and in massive need of replacement. No extra pillows. Lifts bearly work. 10 quid charge for bags is a disgrace. I am very sad about this hotel, it needs serious updating and improvements.

This place was perfect for me, especially for the price. The staff was helpful, hot breakfast was good—coffee was not so good but that’s not worth a bad review. If you want better coffee and a change of breakfast, there is a small diner on the corner. Room was clean. Only thing for me was that the shower was clogged. It was resolved quickly. Some people complained about the elevators being slow but it wasn’t an inconvenience for me. Great place for the price and location. I will stay again.
