"The rooms were clean and furnishings looked brand new, were stylish and thoughtfully planned. The bed was very comfortable! One reason I booked us at the Steinbeck was its location away from the 101 Hwy. Although there was some street noise overall it was quieter than any other Salinas lodgings I'd stayed in on previous occasions. Occasionally there was noise from the plumbing, perhaps from another room. I will book the Steinbeck Lodge during our next stay in Salinas."

"Location is really nice and check in was very smooth, but the AC was really loud and the room was very warm. I saw an older review about this room 114 complaining about this issue and it seems like they’ve done nothing to fix it. Room was very clean and staff did a good job cleaning it. "

"Parking definitely gets packed after about 7pm. We had to park in the denny’s parking lot. Don’t recommend leaving after 7pm. Rooms were cleaned and nice. The bed frames were the only thing we’d say were off. The floating look was nice but maybe a more sturdy frame. Overall would stay again especially for the price ! "

"I had the harbor master room and loved the charm of the room. The views of Elkhorn Slough were glorious. Bring your binoculars!"

"The location is great but the property is pretty dumpy. You get the sense that the management only does the bare bones maintenance. I am a regular guest. I had booked 2 nights and asked to cancel the second night and get a credit for another night. It's been several days and I haven't gotten a response."

Had a very easy and simple check-in process. Simple no hassle card key to the room. And as wonderful, clean and plain property to enjoy on my vacation. I am most definitely recommending this place to anyone who is looking for convenience, and once again without anything extra…"

"It’s a pretty standard place. Super walkable to the warf and lots of shops. I WILL say tho, for the historical rooms, the beds are EXTREMELY loud and there’s no AC but it was an affordable place and nothing insane to complain about. I’d do it again on a budget and the history on the place is very interesting. Parking was easy to find and the staff were no issue. "

"Hidden gem. Clean, safe, somewhat of an enclave for busy area. Denny's right across the street. Fair grounds very close. General larger community is older but the hotel itself if cute, clean, casitas, safe and excellent for price."

"I really enjoyed the property however they encouraged me to pay for breakfast in the morning and when I got there, it was sold out, which I did not know could even happen. Otherwise I would have paid when I checked in which I had no problem doing because I knew I was going to need the breakfast option because I was traveling with my 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 year-old and it just made a lot more sense to eat at the property… Since they were sold out we had to check out four hours earlier than planned in...

"Room was dirty and some weird waxy stuff on the floor. Room smelled bad, tv did not work. Didnt even know about breakfast until i was driving away. Disappointing "

"Place was perfect, was there on a golf trip, needed to have secure parking and they did, location was perfect, nightly sunsets on the ocean, food just around the corner, wildlife everywhere, could hear the surf at night, clean and the staff was very nice at check in and when i needed another coffee packet. Every time i go to monterey/pac grove/carmel i will be staying here. Thank you a ton for making my stay stress free! "
