"The whole experience was wonderful! My only draw was that with such a beautiful old property, that obviously wont have central air, they didnt provide a fan in the room. We kept the window open the entire time as it was unseasonably warm which resulted in some bug bites. A fan would've been lovely to combat the bugs and provide a bit of relief. "Many areas of the hotel are very tired, including the rooms we had. Certain parts of the hotel were not well maintained and not as clean as you would expect from this hotel category. Many staff were in experienced and not helpful, others were very helpful, no consistency. Food was good. You need a car, difficult to get taxis and Ubers"

The tram was not working due to some street closures but the public bus system was easy to figure out and the main stop was not too far away."

"Great location for getting around Edinburgh, and having a bar downstairs is a nice bonus. The room made a great first impression and was clean and comfortable. It could do with a little TLC in places, but for the price it was excellent value for money. There's also on-site parking and a lovely pub garden at the rear, which was a nice added touch."
