"We loved our stay at the Ancient Gatehouse. The room was lovely and looked out over the green in front of the Wells Cathedral. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the hotel has an excellent Italian restaurant, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner before walking around the lovely town of Wells. Americans should know it is not air conditioned, but air conditioning is rare in the UK and Europe. There is a fan and lovely large windows. We will definitely return."
"Fabulous location and beautiful views. This hotel is only a 15 minute walk into Llangollen. The staff were amazing and Melanie and the new girl Jody showed us the beautiful penthouse suite which is out of this world. We look forward to returning very soon. "
"It was perfect for a night or 2. I tried contacting the owner before hand to ask booking in time and how to get in but no reply so we were hanging around hoping. More communication would be great, however the rooms were small and had everything we needed. Spotlessly clean, pure white towels, clean bedding and plenty of sockets. Lovely outside seating area. "A very informal AirBNB in enormous family home. Hosts were very friendly, informal and keen to help. Full Breakfast was fabulous - I haven't seen a Hostess Trolley since 1983 and the croissant and granola yoghurt were lovely! Bed was very cosy and view from window stunning. Short walk or drive up to the rocks. On the negative side, en suite shower/loo/sink is very small and some of its finishes could be quite a bit better. Renovation is obviously still a work in progress, especially outside....
