"This property is in an excellent location and makes a great base from which to explore Ambleside. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. The breakfast was excellent. "

"Breakfast fantastic and the staff lovely and very helpful, found spa staff curt and bordering on rude when we asked for a "float" to assist in our swim which they had in January but now claim was somethjng a previous customer had left behind. Also found operation of the spa outdoor pool buttons unpredictable ie sometimes worked and sometimes didnt. Found the reception staff especially helpful. Due to the spa being a letdown we wont be returning."

"Very average. Overall a nice pub area. Checkin was rushed. No parking nearby and confusing as to which car parks allowed overnight parking. Carpets were filthy and didn't look like they had been hoovered in a week. Breakfast was fine. "

"Beautiful views of Lake Windermere. Lovely old fashioned hunting lodge. Lovely big room and bathroom with separate shower and bath.Breakfast was chosen from a menu but took quite some time for order to be taken and meal to be served. Cocktails in the bar are a MUST. "

The “Welcome Pack” was a great and welcome surprise which is a definite plus compared to other rentals in this area. Master bedroom had a superb en suite plus a great view of Loughrigg Brow. "Stayed at Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa for 3 nights and honestly… the thermal journey is the only reason I’d come back. Rooms are pretty meh—dated and not the cleanest. We were in room 166 and there were visible spill stains on the wall (not great), but it did have incredible lake views. It was also super convenient being so close to the elevator to take you to the spa. Read the fine print: access to the main pool (with infrared sauna + eucalyptus steam) is limited to 2.5 hours. "The rooms were luxuriously furnished and the hotel overall is very cosy and welcoming. Staff couldn;t do enough to help and the attention to detail was fantastic, everything from bags for walking boots to fresh milk on the landing for in room tea and coffee. A bottle of speciality beer in the room was a bonus."

"High Ridge is perfectly situated right in the middle of Ambleside. However, it really does need some TLC. There are damp patches on the walls , the bed linen is rather questionable, & the window blinds are just simply dreadful . They let light in, don’t work properly & are very tatty indeed. The furnishings are of poor quality & there are just far too many dreadful pictures on the walls. The kitchen & bathroom are good but the rest of the property needs a jolly good face lift .
