"Don’t bother. We had to stay here for a baseball tournament and I honestly cannot believe they would offer this as a hotel option. It looks nice from the photos online but the place is a dump. They have updated certain things, like the front desk, to make it look fresh and new but as soon as you walk down the hallway you can tell they really haven’t done anything. The carpet has to have been there since the 80’s. The second floor has no air conditioning in the hallways so it is extremely hot in...

"For a while I have been making reservations at the cheapest, sketchiest hotels or motels I can just to see how bad they are. THIS IS NOT THE WORST. There were problems; the light/fan in the bathroom sounded BAD. The wire was pulled out of the phone. There was no bulb in the wall fixture. The smoke alarm did not work at all. I had to jiggle the handle on the toilet to get it to stop running after flushing. It seems that places no longer put alarm clocks in the rooms; this one did. The room...

"I have never stayed in such a run down nasty hotel. It’s by the highway, and you hear it loud and clear. Never again. Traveled to Winterset after leaving Des Moines stayed a a hotel called Cobblestone it was beautiful, very clean, free breakfast, great service, bar. For a few dollars more than the hotel in DesMoines. I will stay there from now on, even though it’s an hour outside of DesMoines."

"Clean room, great breakfast. Staff very nice. Pool is definitely on the smaller size and unfortunately the hot tub was full of parents with cases...yes cases, of beer and other drinks and they never left the area for other people to get in and use the hot tub."

"This was one of the most derelict, dirty hotels I've ever entered. We checked into our room despite the tarp on the roof, rotting exterior and filthy lobby. Our room, if possible was worse. Carpets have not been vacuumed in months/years, hallways reeked of pot or fried foods. Rivers of god knows what running down the walls. Every piece of furniture was covered in splatters and stains. The curtain was cut in half and hanging by threads, holes punched in the wall, mirror seriously cracked, windows...

"the property itself isn’t too bad, it’s close to the highway so you can hear some of the ruckus nearby, but it didn’t really bother us. the staff was super duper friendly and tended to any of our needs :) very pleasant stay!"
