"I've had affiliations with Des Moines for 60 years but never stayed at the Hotel Ft Des Moines until recently. The room was great. The lobby and restaurant on the Saturday night we stayed was vibrant. Some amount of thought was put into the layout and functionality of the guest rooms. For a smaller room it had lots of storage for clothes and gear if you wanted to unpack and put it all away. An added touch was that was every light fixture in the room had an apparent and easily accessible...

"The pool was very small, not much to offer if you have little kids. "

"The staff was excellent in trying to handle the unfortunate mishap with our dog. We checked into our room it was warm and you could tell it hadn’t been open for awhile. Next morning still warm in room. I turned the heat down to 68 in room and fan on high.Went to our wrestling meet. Came back from meet our room was over 85 degrees and my dog was having a seizure from the heat in the room. They came to room checked temp said it was over 85 10 minutes after opening door and trying to get things...

"Room and service were both fantastic. Furniture was great and the bed was fantastic. The channel selection was top notch. I stayed b cause while in town helping with elderly parents I became life threateningly ill myself, spent time in the hospital, and was unable to drive my vehicle home. My wife flew in to town to take me back to Houston and this was close to the airport. I wish it was closer to my parents home because I would stay here every time I’m in town!"
