"Our stay at the Holiday Inn Downtown Toronto was okay overall, but unfortunately it didn’t meet our expectations. The room felt quite small, dated, and basic. The biggest issue for us was the bed comfort—the mattress was much softer than we prefer, and my husband, children and I all were unable to sleep due to extreme discomfort from sore backs/hips. For that reason alone, I would personally choose to stay elsewhere next time.
Cleanliness was acceptable overall, though there were a few areas that could have felt better maintained. Personally, I wasn’t comfortable having my children sit or lie directly on the room floor, or leave items on the floor, as it didn’t feel as clean as I would have liked. The pool deck also often seemed untidy during our stay with construction workers walking in their boots on the deck. Pool temperature was good, though guests should note there is no hot tub.
The hotel restaurant/bar had limited drink options when we visited, which was a bit disappointing.
The location is convenient if you want to be right downtown and within walking distance of many attractions. It was easy to get around on foot, although it was quite noisy, which is something to keep in mind if you’re a light sleeper.
The staff we interacted with were friendly and pleasant throughout our stay.
Overall, while the location was convenient, the room comfort and our overall experience mean we personally wouldn’t choose to stay here again."
