"Good size bedroom, excellent breakfast, great staff"

"This was a very old historical building in as good of a shape as it could be. Some uneven floors and a lot of steps to get to your room. It was small and quiet charming. The staff was pleasant and helpful. A bus stop was right out the side. Very pleasant. The bed was nice, no air conditioning, but it was fairly cool when we went in August, 2026. They had a fan. "Room was comfortable (e.g. bed, warm) had all one required and a reasonable shower. Staff very helpful before and during stay. Parking very handy considering how close one is to the centre of Durham. Excellent choices of breakfasts. Well worth the cost. It was also quiet, considering how near the centre it is and in spite of the storm."

"Better than expected. Don’t write off these hotels. Way nicer than many upmarket properties out there."

"Clean room, helpful staff. Good breakfast options"

"Ample parking. Amazing breakfast. Great views"

We found the hotel lacked character, everything about it was functional and not interesting. This extended to the breakfast, our experience of which was behind not eating supper there. This is not a criticism of the hotel, it is my view. Based on reviews I expected a little more than we got....
