"We had a very warm welcome from the friendly staff and were shown to the room which was clean and bright. The food that evening was excellent, and as it was a warm evening we spent a pleasant time sitting outside with our drinks afterwards. "Lovely property with an added lovely view from the decking across the fields , made to feel very welcome from the hosts who done me a cracking bit of breakfast. Will look to stop again sometime but hope to take the better half next visit 👌👍"

"Liked the garden, but it needs a little C&A... Disabled car parking near to our room (No.5) was an excellent bonus. Breakfast was excellent but a bit expensive. Staff were all very courtious and helpful. Direct booking rather than via an agency is preferred. We will certainly be recomending the Lion to our friends and relations and using you again next time we are in the area. "The room we had was fairly run down. In particular it had a strong and unpleasant odour. At first we thought having the windows open would help. But part way through the night the smell was so terrible we were awake. In the morning we realised it must have been mildew and mold. Some of the glass window pains had black mould, not only around the edges but in the middle of the glass. We left pretty early because we couldn't be in the room anymore. "Hotel stay was for a family funeral in the area so did not use any of the facilities."

"Had a great stay here, it had everything from great food , friendly staff and a well equipped gym and pool. To top it off for us, it’s dog friendly too! All the staff were super helpful and attentive to our needs, from reception to bar and gym staff. Everyone made us feel so welcome, even the gym members. "Room was okay but small. The mattress was amazingly comfortable albeit the wooden bed frame was a little creaky. The walls are paper thin and the doors closing and opening extremely noisy so not as restful a break as the location demands"

"It was a nice place and clean until we pulled the sofa bed out and it was dirty, a quick hover wouldn't have done it any harm. Overall its a nice place to stay, we did try and phone the numbers given to inform of the condition of the sofa bed however not one number was answered, we ended up getting the caretaker, who was 100% helpful"

Only a short walk (about 15 minutes) from the train station and and a lovely big park across the road from the hotel. Not much in Chirk though, with little more than cafes and bistros and bus service looks poor (up to 3hours apart judging by the timetables where provided) compared with other parts of Wales we’ve visited"

"Very clean, high quality, lovely home with fresh flowers and friendly, helpful hosts. Beautiful country garden to back and expansive views from lounge and one bedroom. Easy parking on site. Large steps to reach first storey difficult for parents in mid/late 80s but metal rails both sides helped. Highly recommend"
