"Beautiful place to stay. The highlight is the breakfast prepared by a chef, and the lovely deer that were grazing outside. It’s also a short walk up the street to the lieutenant governor’s residence with the lovely walking trails and Craigdarroch castle."

"Love the rooms, staff & location. Up scale, quiet and just overall a lovely place to stay. We find The Courtney Room (onsite bar/restaurant) a bit pricey and not really very fancy for what you're paying."

"Loved the size of the room and full kitchen Did upgrade to marine view and loved it. Walking distance to restaurants u assume but we just stayed in the room ordered in as it was only 1 night."

"The hotel is located so conveniently to parks and attractions. Very walkable and quiet. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Loved the breakfast at the in-house pub. Only suggestion would be to have a bug screen for the windows so we can keep it open during the night. Room was a bit hot and had to have a fan on all night."

"The windows in our room were so dirty that it was hard to see the view. The rug was thread bear and had a hole that had been poorly repaired with the rug pad showing through . The gardens may have been lovely in years gone by but clearly aren’t getting any attention now. For almost $400 Canadian/ night I would expect more attention to detail and care for this beautiful old home. I won’t return"

"Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Fairmont Empress. The rooms are lovely and comfortable, but the carpeting—both inside the rooms and throughout the hallways—feels a bit worn and could use refreshing. The service, however, is consistently excellent, with staff who are warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. One thing I did notice was that the pool area floor tended to be a bit dirty each day, which took away from the otherwise great amenities. The in room dining is great as well. In short:...

The room had so much personality, and right from the start, the staff made it clear that they would help us with anything we needed. Afternoon tea was flawless, and the breakfast was top-notch. "We stayed in a room outside of the house. We did not get to experience the beauty on the inside other than eating a very good breakfast in the front room. Our room was muggy and not very nice. Would we stay here again… probably not. Beautiful home, would have a better experience if we stayed inside the home."

"They had no laundry mat inside the hotel. There isn’t a laundry mat in the city of Victoria. They have a dry cleaning service. The noise of the construction crew building next door woke us up early every day we were there."
