"In one of the rooms, there was a terrible stink emanating from the sink next to the coffee-maker. I brought it to the attention of the front desk. Fortunately my sense of smell is not good but my family complained about it. Weather was cool in Monterey but even when we raised the temperature on the thermostat it was blowing cold air. The room was supposed to be an accessible room for seniors. Not healthy for seniors in that room."

"We recently had a wonderful stay at the Carmel River Inn and Cottages, and we can't recommend it enough! First and foremost, the cottages are absolutely adorable. They have such a charming and cozy feel, making it the perfect home away from home. Plus, being dog-friendly was a major bonus for us. "Room seemed clean but outdated. Could hear all the neighbors above and below. Smoking was permitted at the eating area outside of the continental breakfast which was unfortunate. Breakfast seemed fresh but not a lot of options as expected. Bagels, toast, one flavor of yogurt and oatmeal/cereal. Overall, good enough but won’t be staying there again."

"For being on a main road, This place is well kept, the rooms were very clean and smelled nice. I rented 2 rooms. They allowed us to check into 1 room 1 hr early. The other room wasnt ready until 30 min after check in time. Parked near our room was tight. The mattress needs to replaced. There was a Keurig in our room. The internet worked"
