"Great location, great staff"

"There were two restaurants near one Greek and one Latin American we tried the latter and it was good, the Greek one was closed Monday. Staff were welcoming, small family run hotel so personal. Nice bar area. Breakfast was included (continental) but they did offer boiled eggs or bacon bap or sausage bap in the morning."

"Had a great stay at Ashbys room was lovely. Beds very comfortable. Great location will definitely go back one day!"

Shortly, but not too sweetly; for reasons I would be happy to list on request, I consider that Management would benefit in reputation from closing the wing till completion, rather than continuing to exploit its present tired mediocrity."

"The bedding and towels were lovely and clean, couldn't fault. The shower tray left a lot to be desired, along with the shower mat and windowsill. There was no way of opening/closing the windows as they were too high. The same with the curtains. A long bamboo rod attached to the top could help with opening/closing? Staff? Hardley saw a soul in the 4 days I was there. The breakfast was sufficient for what I needed."

"The hotel was great the air conditioning could not cool the room off enough for our liking during the heat dome we experienced. The breakfast was very nice the restaurant was imho over priced for what you got and the younger staff could have smiled and been a little friendlier."

"Basically I booked this for its location and price. Was very grateful to find we had been upgraded to a family room in the basement. Sadly though other residents weren’t as thoughtful and kept us awake till nearly 3 in the morning, slamming doors and talking loudly outside our window and in hallway. Also room was stiflingly hot. There was a fan but it didn’t reduce heat. Can’t fault how polite and helpful staff were with booking."

"The staff were very nice and helpful. The main areas of the hotel are pleasant and the hotel was clearly once a very grand building. The superior double room we had was a bit tired but the main problem was the heat. It was facing the afternoon sun and it had been a hot day. No attempt had been made to draw the curtains to keep the heat out so as a result the room was absolutely stifling. The window would only open about 2 inches so no fresh air could get in overnight. "Stayed here for 2 nights on the hottest weekend of the year in room 320. Air conditioning wasn't working we were sweltering in the small room with twin beds that were of differing heights. I spoke to reception about the air con and how hot it was in the room, they gave us desktop fans and told us there wasn't really anything else they could do as there were quite a few rooms with the same issue!! "The breakfast was excellent but wasn't at the Lady Hamilton it was 2 doors down. The double room was tiny, more suited to a single room. There was a very small space between the wall and the bed and care was needed not to nudge the kettle on the way past. No space for furniture although a hanging rail and a few shelves were behind a curtain. There was a stool. To exit the property there was a steep staircase and a fire door that shut behind you. "Das Hotel hat wirklich eine gute Lage. Das Personal war nett. Aber der Zustand der Zimmer ist wirklich schlecht. Sehr in die Jahre gekommen und viel Abnutzung. Leider war es auch nicht wirklich sauber. Über das Frühstück müssen wir erst gar nicht sprechen. Einziger Pluspunkt. Die Betten waren sehr bequem."
