They were hosting a Pride potluck that day and he kindly invited us to come eat and join in as guests of the house. Everyone we met was friendly and we felt safe to be ourselves. "If you like Sailor Jerry, Donovan's Reef, and vintage tiki aesthetic, you'll enjoy Wild Ginger. Yes it really takes 20 minutes for hot water and there's no a/c, but the rates are reasonable, rooms are clean and breezy, staff are nice, and parking and continental breakfast free. The hotel was built in 1911 (16 years before the Royal Hawaiian) and the new owners are working hard to keep it nice. "Check in was easy and reception offered room upgrade for additional price. However, our room we chose was Oceanside and very spacious with balcony. We watched sunset from our patio. A lot of amenities at resort including poolside bar, two pools, slide free breakfast and happy hour as part of package purchased.
