"Drew, the concierge/bellhop/front desk/billing/breakfast and happy hour set up man (yes he does it all) was absolutely fantastic! He always greets you with a smile and a helping hand - I can't rave enough about the service and hospitality he provided. The house itself was perfect for staying in Key West - you cannot beat the location - directly off of Duval Street where all the action is, yet since it's a block or so off, you don't get any of the foot traffic and noise (except for the rooster wake-up calls in the morning!) There is a lovely front porch as well as a back deck to enjoy breakfast in the morning or a drink at night. The room had everything we needed - full bath (shower only, no tub), super comfortable bed, mini fridge and AC that really pumped that cool air when you needed it. We didn't use the closet but it's nice if you are staying for an extended time to unpack. We also never turned on the TV because there's just so much to do! I don't believe there's an elevator so keep that in mind if you have mobility issues - as well as no parking on site (but you can idle out front to unload/load your car for 10ish minutes), you need to park a few blocks away for free public parking (not an issue for us since we were able to walk everywhere on the island we wanted to go). It was a little pricier than what we expected but honestly totally worth it for the experience and convenience. We'll be back! "

"Shops nearby. Pool area beautiful, quiet and lovely. Only one night stay so did not use. Valet parking was a plus since parking is difficult and metered. Nightly entertainment on rooftop bar where you can also people watch. Room lovely and bed comfortable. Furnishings could be a little more functional than decorative."

"This was our fifth stay at Southernmost Resort and the Avalon Room was so small. There was no closet, no dresser, no coffee/espresso machine and the bathroom was so tiny. We couldn’t unpack anything. This was a far cry from the oceanfront rooms we always get. This was a special weekend for us. My husband’s birthday, our Anniversary and my birthday. I did reach out to the front desk and the next morning, they said they could change our room to a partial ocean view, which was wonderful! It changed our weekend and made a huge difference! We ended up having the best time! "

"We loved many, many things about this lovely vintage property: the location - within walking distance to Duvall St, Mallory Square, etc..., the landscaping - palm trees and flowering vines, the pool area, the comfortable bed, the wonderful balcony seating and view. Yes, parking was an issue, but if you don't mind a little walking, $15 will get you a 24 hour spot in a parking lot a couple blocks away. It really wasn't a problem. There is room for loading/unloading directly in front of the hotel. And yes, breakfast is ample and good, when it was finally ready. BUT the property states breakfast is served 8-10am, and on both mornings we were there, things were not ready at 8:00. Coffee really should be available by 7:00, in my opinion, since there are no coffee makers in the room. That really shouldn't be too hard to do? Also, the lovely kitchen worker seemed overworked, dealing with blown circuit breakers, guests waiting...she either should be paid to start earlier or be provided with a helper. That was really our only issue with Heron House. But yes, we would definitely stay here again; what the place lacks in this or that, it definitely makes up for in character! "

"Service was impeccable with staff very friendly. Our room was beside the water with great view of the small island across the bay. Food in restaurant was excellent; better than i would expect in any hotel. Room rates are high but everything about our stay made it worth it."
