"My wife and I celebrate our 20th anniversary this year, so we decided to spend a week in New York City, a place neither of us had been before. After a lot of research, keeping in mind that we had a relatively tight budget, we chose to stay at the L.I.C. Manhattan View. Now, I read a lot of reviews from other visitors, and I saw the good and the bad, so let me give you my opinion now that the week is over. So is the hotel a five star property? It is not, for one reason, and I'll get to that momentarily. The Manhattan View is a budget oriented hotel and in some ways, that shows. There are some cosmetic imperfections. But seriously, is that something to complain about? I don't believe so as long as the owners don't allow it to get out of control. This isn't The Ritz Carlton. Minor shortcomings will not affect your stay. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was a firm mattress, but no different than the one I have at home. The location was perfect also. The subway is 2 short blocks away and in less than 15 minutes you're in Time Square. In addition, there's a great bodega across the street with delicious, fresh food and very nice employees. There aren't very many fast food restaurants in the area, but there are a number of sit-down establishments. The hotel doesn't have a lot of amenities, but there are some pluses such as free coffee in the lobby, a public microwave and water bottles at the asking. I was told there's a gym downstairs, but I"

"The room was a bit too noisy. We can hear the noises coming from the streets. We got a issue with the bathroom (bathtub and toilet clogged). We had to call the reception and they sent someone right away to fix the problem. We appreciate. Everything else was good."

"Nice clean room, friendly and helpful staff, and great location. Loved the free popcorn! Spent a week there and never had the breakfast because it was always a madhouse (at various times), but the hotel seems to do its best stocking items and cleaning. Definitely well staffed, just an insanely high volume of people. Luckily it was just a bonus for me, grabbed coffee and on my way, but if you're banking on that breakfast then get there as early as possible or be prepared for crowds. Also! Similarly, the elevators are routinely backed due to the volume of people lined up, it's worst in the morning (8-10) but be aware. I'd recommend taking the stairs whenever possible so maybe get a lower floor. All that said, if you're prepared for the crowds then it's quite a nice place to stay with good subway access. "

"Do not stay at this hotel! The room was quite cold and there was no way to control the air conditioning temperature. The floor was dirty and unswept. There was a coffee maker but no cups and no decaf so we were unable to have coffee in the room. We were unable to find a convenient local coffee shop. The bed was comfortable. Once the noisy children in a nearby room went to bed we were able to get a good night sleep. There was NO WIFI despite our attempts to use the log in information. We advise you choose a different hotel."
