"This is a super little hotel hidden away from everything, an excellent place if you want to be alone. It’s an old building but doesn’t suffer from it. The staff are all excellent if a little forgetful in the restaurant. The only thing which lets it’s down slightly is the food. It’s not bad by any means, and some things are lovely, but it’s not quite 5*, the breakfast in particular was poor. I’d definitely recommend a stay here though. "

"lovely place with very comfortable and tastefully decorated rooms. Nice touches such as fresh milk in the room every day. Restaurant served very nice food - not cheap, but very nice. We all like romantic dinners with soft lighting, but one of the nights the lights were so dim, we could not identify some the food on the plate without tasting it. After that we picked our own table with better lighting :)"

"We had a perfect anniversary getaway stay. The staff were wonderful, and the breakfast was a delight. Walking around the grounds was very peaceful. We would highly recommend this place for a quiet break."

"The basic amenities, such as a toothbrush and toothpaste, were missing from my room. When I inquired about them, the staff informed me that they typically do not provide these items, but they would make an exception for me if I came to the reception to collect them. The same issue occurred with the table fan; it was dirty, and I had to transport it myself to my room."

"Lovely old building in quiet location. Unusually, was able to book a single room which helps keep costs down when travelling solo. Although compact, it had everything needed for a stopover and was attractively decorated and spotlessly clean."

"We recently had the pleasure of staying at The Inn South Stainley, and it exceeded every expectation.
