"A relaxing feel runs through the hotel and out into the gardens. The view from the restaurant is beautiful. Herons love it too! The staff were smiley and attentive, Our room was clean and the towels soft and fluffy. We made use of the spa facilities every day. The pool temperature was great for us."

"Beautiful historic mansion. We walked thru nearby parks to the riverfront for lunch. The outdoor restaurant at Orange Grove was very pleasant for an evening dinner and happy hour. The admiral lounge is very comfortable while waiting for pickup to go to the airport or cruise ships."

"Terrible hotel. Would avoid! Rang me on the day of check-in to say that the hotel was overbooked. I was then told that, as compensation for THEIR error, they would put me in a 'sister' hotel, which in fact looked like a 1970s pub and was not at all a like-for-like swap. Very unhelpful staff; offered absolutely no assistance in resolving any discrepancies, and had to escalate to Expedia to get anywhere."

"If you are travelling from Southampton Central Railway station, it is best to take a bus right at the train station and then walk 5 minutes to the hotel. About 10 minutes walk passing thru the park to many eating places."

"Location excellent for attractions. Reception was nice and a bit quirky. Room was a bit bland although recently refurbished. Breakfast was adequate. Air conditioning in the room would have been nice, a fan was provided. If the temperature had been any warmer it could have been a problem. We managed to get free parking at the front of the hotel which was a bonus, spaces were limited."

"Our room was very spacious and the bed comfortable. The hotel has a different layout so depending on where your room is you may have to walk a long way to get to it or cut across the courtyard if it’s not raining. A bit in the middle of nowhere but ok if you have a car. Large parking lot but you have to pay."

"Has a cafe bar which is used for meals and has lovely food, the management and staff are really helpful. Loads of parking. No aircon but that is something they could look at going forward."

"I arrived with my 8 year old for a 2 night stay during a very hot heatwave. Upon checking in I proceeded to attempt to use the little elevator which got stuck between floors with me inside so I went back down and carried my heavy suitcase up the stairs. I immediately noticed how stifling hot the room was and saw the thermostat had a spanner symbol on. I had to call down 2x to get assistance which came in the form of a small fan. "Callum was absolutely fantastic in making up for the deficiencies of the bar staff, who were slow, and nonchalant. He went the extra mile and restored my faith in good customer service. Pool, gym and facilities are great, as was the room and plenty of parking."

"A very lovely, friendly and comfortable hotel. Staff were super friendly. Restaurant food was great. À la carte breakfast was also very good but there was no fruit offered which I was disappointed with. Times were also a little tight from breakfast, dinner, room cleaning and checkout but it was a small hotel so this is understandable. I would definitely stay here again. Thankyou."

"Worst hotel we’ve stayed at in Southampton - never again. One lift for all hotel guests and all the housekeeping teams. Impossible trying to get in the lift. No air conditioning. No fans. Just a wall mounted heater that apparently blew the air around - that was worse than useless. Hand gel bottle fell off the wall during the night. No hand towels just one bath towel each. One skimpy pillow each. No cooked breakfast available in the hotel."
