"Great location and large clean room. Very disappointing breakfast at the George though. Waited 20 minutes for a very unappealing looking plate of food and a bizarre set up. Sticky tables in breakfast room too. Staff were lovely though."

"Das Hotel ist "knuffig", alt und hat Flair. Personal bzw. Besitzer sind nett und sehr hilfsbereit. (Vielen Dank!) Wir würden durchaus wiederkommen. Voraussetzung: Die Matratzen wären bis dahin durch gute, neue Matratzen ausgetauscht worden. Das haben wir als Schwachpunkt empfunden, so ausgeleiert/durchgelegen sie waren."

"Overall this hotel suited our needs as we were visiting Colchester Zoo. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The air conditioner in our room did not cool properly."

"The staff are very helpful and parking behind pub very good. . Food to a high standard. Room was very comfortable with a large shower as requested. I am unable to use a bath so requested a shower due to my lack of mobility. The room had tea and coffee facilities and towels, robes and slippers BUT the bed, although comfortable, was extremely low. Apparently all the beds are the same height according to a member of staff. It caused a real problem in the night as I had to wake my husband twice...

"It was short walk from the train station and like 50 minutes from London. The restaurant in the hotel is pretty good and the bus to colchester city center is pretty good. The hotel was clean and check out was pretty easy as well."

"The hotel was lovely, and the swimming pools amazing! The staff were lovely and friendly and really helpful. However, the rooms do not have air conditioning and become very hot when you can only open a small window. They did supply a fan, but it was still very hot. Breakfast really wasn't very good. The two nights we were their the breakfast was stone cold one day and luke warm the next, and the scrambled egg was like rubber! Other than the food the room was lovely and as the say the swimming...

"Lovely grounds, fantastic massage and great food. Thought the spa facilities could have been bigger. A 30 min delay waiting for my massage with no apology or acknowledgement of the delay. Rooms comfy but basic."

Our room was a standard room at the top of the house and it was very clean with a nice ensuite and a comfortable bed. The decor and furniture enhanced the room giving plenty of space to put our clothes and personal effects. Food was very good, we had a three course dinner and the food was delicious.
