"No evening meal due to chef needing time off, staff seemed to have no idea what was happening. Only food available in the area was pizza at a hostel across the road. Breakfast room opened at 8:30 and consisted of help yourself Coco pops, croissants or toast, if you had an early start, nothing. Overall a very poor experience."

"On the plus, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and well maintained and nicely furnished. The double bedroom with sofa bed I booked turned out to be a 2 double bedroom suite with a lounge with double sofa bed which was a wonderful surprise for myself and my 2 children and superb value. All the rooms had tvs and the bedrooms both had good tea / coffee facilities. The breakfast was also excellent - self service buffet with croissants, juice, cereals and good choice...

"First visit to Bowes incline and won't be the last.If it was on 4 in bed program I could be hyper critical on a couple of issues but I'm not.I always give a fair and balanced review's and this is what I'm doing,first impression of hotel was clean and well maintained,staff on reception were friendly and welcoming explained breakfast set up and evening meals.rooms are small but cozy for two and well appointed .can get a bit noisy in morning when people going for breakfast with doors...

"Put in a room over a party where we couldn’t sleep. Then moved to a room with a bathroom that didn’t work."

"Air conditioning nice and cold. Soft, comfortable bed and really good pillows. Good size room. Large bathroom with a rain shower head that had great pressure with beautiful soft water. Lovely bathroom products. Would highly recommend!"

"This hotel is in desperate need for refurbishment. The fixtures and furniture is dated and the building itself is so old that you. It think it’s a hotel. The room I got given had a non functional AC. The telephone connection in the room was non functional too. There was no water bottle in the room. You have to buy it!!! The hotel staff had left the room windows, I suppose because the AC wasn’t working. I would not recommend this to anyone."

"Room was looking very tired needs refurbishment basin in bathroom would not empty plug was stuck!!!when opening bathroom door handle bang shower door in spite of stopper fixed to floor, appreciate free "cookie" but could not make cup of tea as no milk in room,"

"Basic hotel, but clean room and comfortable bed. Staff really friendly and helpful. Stay included breakfast, but limited really to takeaway style bags in which to take your choices to your room, or sit at small tables in reception. Would probably give it a miss if staying again. Location is in the middle of large industrial estate, so whilst its cheap, and ok just to put your head down for a night or two, it is limited in what it can offer to tourists."

"We booked this at the last minute as we were travelling up to the Scottish borders and wanted to break the journey due to the extreme heat. We arrived very late (about 11pm) but we had called the hotel in advance and one of the staff agreed to wait for us. When we did arrive we were greeted with a very warm welcome. Our one regret is that we didn't have time to make use of the observatory (yes you read that right!) All staff very friendly and helpful and loved the breakfast"

"Room was clean and fresh, shower was superb, ours was a twin room, the beds were comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast at the health club was very good, overall our stay was great."

"As many have said, this is a dated hotel with a very 1970s feel. We stayed on a Friday night as we had an early flight the next day, and the car park was very busy (as was the bar, so we ended up eating in a side room). The food was actually pretty good. The rooms were fairly basic but comfortable, and we felt safe the whole time. It was a very short walk to the airport the next morning (I asked if they did wake-up phone calls and got a firm 'no'). Still, the staff were friendly, and the hotel...

"A hidden gem for any medieval castle hotel fan. We’ve stayed at many castle hotels and Langley Castle stuck out for its authenticity and unique details, especially the 14th century window niches. Make sure to reserve a suite with a window niche like Greenwich Room. Dinner is a nice occasion with drinks starting in the drawing room before descending to the dining room for the meal. Free castle history tour in the morning."

"Pleasant stay. Clean room. A not too loud alarm did disturb our sleep a little but it must have been nothing untoward? - fire regulations said to wait in bedroom until otherwise advised... fortunately no such advice was forthcoming!"
