"Bare bones hotel… not worth it for the price. Has a ton of potential if someone wanted to rehab/ clean it up. "

"Highly recommended. The room was clean and spacious, parking was a non issue, the staff did great making sure we had everything we needed from places to go and help with luggage. We stayed with our 2 kids ( 5 and 3 ), so absolutely great for family and/or solo."

"Property was beautiful and loved the location. We were able to walk to a grocery store and restaurants. View was amazing and the decor was very boho. Loved it! "

"No elevator, so climbing stairs up 3 floors with suitcases was rough. The room was in need of repairs. A recent water main break had the shower water coming out rusty. The only positives were the location and the pleasantness of the staff. "

"Overall loved the location and amenities. Staff was also great. Only issue in our room is it needs a bed/mattress replacement. I felt like I was laying on different levels of plywood. Caused some back discomfort. "

"Power went out often on the island, a generator is needed at this property. Out flight was cancelled and we lost a day. I was told we would get credit for that but haven’t received confirmation of that yet. Location is okay, taxi service is a few blocks away, restaurants close. Not sure if I’d return or recommend at this time, still waiting on owner to honor his verbal agreement. But no matter what, a generator is desperately needed to protect a quality experience. "

"Air conditioning is defective. Lost power twice. No hair blower, parking is not easy. Only the celiling cools me off. Can't use the tv because had to log in each time. Room per night is overprice and not a standard hotel."

"The hotel is known for its views which are wonderful. However, the room was clean, but television was hard to work, sink had no drain catch, and no surface areas in the bathroom to place items. Would have appreciated a coffee pot because no coffee available until 8 AM. "

"The room was very clean and had great amenities. The staff were incredibly friendly. The space is beautiful and charming. Bartender and Restaurant staff were exceptional and the food was amazing. My only piece of feedback would be to add some lounge chairs near the pool. But next time I come back to St Thomas there is no doubt I’m staying at Hotel 1829! "

"What a beautiful place to stay on St. John, a great location with outstanding views. The restaurant was wonderful, we had two outstanding dinners and enjoyed after dinner drinks at the bar each evening. Staff was outstanding, friendly and helpful! We are planning to return in 2027!"
