"First of all, the room was silent, which is a huge positive. Really quiet and peaceful. The ‘king size’ bed is an insult to customers intelligence. Pushing two single beds together and calling it a king size should be criminalised. Properties like this are charging premium prices for facilities, and then providing some hashed excuse which barely ticks the boxes. The internet access is generous and works well. "Rooms were spacious, modern and clean. We didn’t use the spa due to only staying one night and the extra charge as booked through Expedia but if book direct, it’s included. Breakfast was £16.95 and worth it. Great choice. Lovely outdoor seating area. Beds comfy. Bathrooms good. Quiet location. All was good."

"Beautiful historic mansion. We walked thru nearby parks to the riverfront for lunch. The outdoor restaurant at Orange Grove was very pleasant for an evening dinner and happy hour. The admiral lounge is very comfortable while waiting for pickup to go to the airport or cruise ships."

"The bed and breakfast is Cowes was in a great location. It was easy to walk to town and parking for our vehicle was provided. The hosts were terrific - providing great recommendations for dinners and things to do. The breakfast was delicious and was a great start to our day. The hosts’ 2 dogs were so CUTE!"

"The hotel is being rescued so it’s very basic. Bar and restaurant closed. Bit 1970s. Good luck to the new owners. They use minimum staff and cannot yet exploit the real potential. Eg hairdryer broke down immediately and no-one on desk. You get what you pay for which is fair, but minimal. It’s really look after yourself AB&B. Would I stay again. Yes if budget was the big issue. No if we wanted atmosphere and attention."

"The hotel in certain area’s is being renovated which didn’t effect our stay even though we had to pass through part of it to get to our room . Wasn’t a problem. Our room was immaculately kept . Housekeeping would have extra work to do keeping areas clean but they are keeping on top of it . Well done . Breakfast was great with a good choice . I managed to get parked on the front which was handy . We had an excellent stay . Would definitely stay there again."

"When visiting Portsmouth this properties location in between the Historic Dockyards and Gunwharf Quays meant that for our three day stay we could easily walk to all of the major attraction. The fact it has its own car park was also a plus although you could easily travel there by public transport due its close proximity to the bus and rail stations. "The only factor in favour for the hotel is the history and the period property. It needs sprucing up the exterior and somewhat the interior. Room can get hot despite not south face. Breakfast was too slow and so we left without having the main item , 40 minutes after entering.They wrote that breakfast is leisurely but it could be putting a spin on the low staffing.Reception personnel are not quite welcoming or service like.."

"No door key as all digital, had to use phone which is ok but only gives access to 1 person. Shower temperature was luke warm at it's hottest, shower gel dispenser didn't work. Also the air-conditioning didn't work, had to use the fan instead. Room was noisy due to the adjacent pub."

"Kind of okay, but some of the staff were really bothered if you need anything or ask them a question. At the pub the staff were a bit weird and made us feel not welcomed. Most of them looked very tense and wanted you to get out of their faces quickly. Some of them were good. They should leave more milk bags in the rooms."
