It is understaffed, staff are not always helpful…(some staff are excellent but clearly too far stretched) whilst others are poor.A leaking shower base meant my trousers got wet, instead of offering to sort them (as I would expect for a conde Nast hotel) I was told to dry them with a hairdryer. No turn down service, and we were offered a free drink to compensate, asked for baileys - but there was a huge problem with that and...

"Lovely location. Room a bit dated and not always in a charming or characterful way - e.g. brown patterned carpet, likely from the 1980s. At check out I was asked for a 15 pound a night “tip” or service charges and to cover lobby and door staff! I felt awkward asking for it to be removed from the account, but really at 250+ a night I expect staff to be part of the deal. Is tipping at hotel really to become a normal thing in London?"

"I have stayed at this hotel close to 20 times. As I checked in I was told I was upgraded. The room however was smaller than I have ever been in at this hotel before. I very much doubt I was upgraded. Very disappointing."

"This has been our “go-to” hotel for twenty plus years. Something has changed on this visit. We arrived only to find water dripping from ceiling in bathroom! Alternative room was next to outdoor bar/seating area — meaning loud. The GM was kind to provide a one night-free apology which, while appreciated, was not the wonderful experience we have come to receive at The Stafford. I hope they can recreate the old beauty of their property since this experience fell far short of historic standards!"

"Great location, great atmosphere with nice restaurants and bars on site, one of which was 24/7 which was a great thing for all our friends to meet when jetlagged. Bedding was phenomenal, just needed better blackout curtains and wish we had gotten a larger room but overall was amazing"
