The hotel itself was lovely and most of the staff were great as well. We stayed at the hotel off and on over a two week European vacation. The one issue we had, and it's a big one, is that they have a kickback deal with a local cab company that they don't disclose up front. T was 100 Pounds to take a cab to the airport if you have the hotel call the cab for you. If you take a regular taxi that you call yourself you won't pay more that 70 pounds at the most. Uber of course is even cheaper. When we asked the cab driver, who refused to even turn the heat on for us (in Jan) why it was so much he said the hotel set the rate. When we got back to the hotel after our France visit, the agent at the front desk initially denied that the hotel had a deal with the cab company. Saying the cab sets the rate. Then he admitted that it was a deal the hotel had with them. He was also very indifferent about it and isn't at all care that it was a scummy thing to do to guests. The Trafalgar is not a cheap hotel. They get enough money out of their guests through the rooms, drinks and dining. The deal is one thing but I feel it should be disclosed to guests before they call you a cab. We should have the option to decide if we want to overpay for poor service.
Other than that and this particular desk agent with his poor attitude, the hotel was lovely. There is free laundry (one machine for the hotel so it may be occupied during busy times) the gym has everything you need. Even 2 Peloton bikes.
