"This was possibly our best hotel experience ever. It was my husband's 50th birthday and management helped to make it truly special.The hotel room and facilities were stunning. The Cliff Bay is very well located, on a beautiful bay a few minutes walk away from the port area (I would recommend this distance away from the cruise ships). We enjoyed a couple of meals from room service (best burger ever...and we've tried many). On the opposite side of the scale, the Il Gallo D'Oro Michelin experience...

"We love Porto Mare and have stayed a few times before. The facilities are great and the staff are very welcoming! The breakfast buffet is the BEST! This time we bought the three dinners at Atlantida restaurant, all of which we fab but the fish and seafood night was the highlight! Our room was clean and had a lovely view over the gardens We’ll be back in 2026 :)"

"Awesome rooftop pool and view towards the sea. Location was also a great location for walking into central Funchal and had bus links too. For any tours booked it’s in the catchment area for hotel collection at least we found anyway. Breakfast was great too! "

"The hotel was very comfortable, quiet, and an easy bus ride to the centre of town. The staff was friendly and helpful. Notable were the free garage parking for our rental car as well as the quality of meals in the various restaurants. Would definitely vacation there again."

"It was the perfect room over looking the ocean. It was a great way to start my birthday weekend. The staff was exceptional. I really appreciated the little extra touches, like having a birthday cake made out of towels and flowers and an actual birthday cake in my room. It's convenient to a lot of things. Did the Madeira tasting evening which was yummy, with plenty of food, and wine, well worth it.
