"Staff were by and large very helpful. A request for boiled eggs was treated very poorly at night but at breakfast it was no problem. Room very good but odd bits dusty. Bed large and comfortable. False alarm at 2.30am not only not welcome but not managed well by staff member. Food only average. Decor lovely. Big car park. Wanted to like the place but of the 4 hotels in the group we have visited this was the worst."

"I really enjoyed my one night stay at Y Pengwern. The bar was friendly when we checked in, and when I was shown my room was amazed at how big it was. I was backpacking and there was plenty of room to reorganise my kit, and the bed was large and very comfortable. "Hotel is in a good location, ample parking. It's a stately building fairly well maintained, though the elevator access on floor 1 is hindered by the carpeting that restricts the door from opening. Yes you have to manually open the door to access the 50 + year old elevator and make sure it doesnt swallow any body part when the door closes, very cool. The food in the attached restaurant/ pub was good, though the service was hindered by only 1 person doing everything, hotel check in and restaurant...
