"The stand out was the service. Friendly staff and excellent service. Room service was speedy and if you had breakfast included there was no extra charge. We had an issue with our TV and someone was there within 2 mins. The amenities in the bathroom smelt gorgeous. Loved the variety in the mini bar. Good size mugs for a cuppa. Only down side was the water pressure in the shower."

"This is a great hotel that has all the necessary amenities to make a trip pleasant. We stayed 7 nights and it was the best decision we made to book here. Blackout curtains in the room were such a nice feature and the bathrooms and showers were top notch. The location is perfect and the staff were very helpful and friendly. "Lägenheten bar bra planerad o extra plus att det bar två badrum. Mycket hög standard i badrummen och köket med stor och öppen köksdel, fullt utrustad och med bardisk. Tvåvånings sängen var mycket skön att sova i. Tyvärr var de större sängarna av äldre modell och madrassernas fjädring gjorde att sängarna uppfattades som ”skålade” och ”lutade”. Gjorde det svårt att sova i ”sin egen” sovställning."

"The Balmoral is a beautiful hotel! Its location is perfect since it’s close to all major attractions. The staff are accommodating and helpful. I’ve stayed in two different rooms and both were lovely and had great views. The restaurant is very good and the high tea in the Palm Court is superb!"

"A nice small hotel in a very busy part of the old town. The hotel is located in an interesting area but not easy to access. Rooms are tiny but air conditioning worked well. Staff was extremely helpful providing tips and advice. Breakfast is served in a connecting restaurant but was disappointing with limited selection and little variety. I’m glad I had the opportunity to stay at the Grassmarket Hotel but don’t think I would choose to stay at the hotel in the future."

"Definitely a challenge if you're traveling with more than a carry-on piece of luggage but we made it work. The staff was super helpful and gave us early check-in to drop our luggage. Bus service right outside made getting around super convenient."

"Wir hatten 3 Nächte in einem privaten Zimmer gebucht. Die privaten Zimmer liegen alle außerhalb des Haupthauses in einem anderen Gebäude. Die Zimmer, die Toiletten und Duschen sind alle neu und sehr schön. Das Ganze Gebäude scheint neu Renoviert zu sein. Man bekommt den Eindruck eher in einem Hotel zu sein. Zimmer sind groß und geräumig, viel Platz und Sitzgelegenheit. 4 Toiletten und 3 Duschen für 6 Zimmer sind mehr als ausreichend. Besonders zu loben ist die Küche. Auch alles neu und die...

"We booked a room in top floor with wonderful views for 4 nights in May 2026. The hotel location is excellent in city center. The drawbacks,1) We can hear/feel the passing train noise and shaking at night. 2)Next door hotel is under construction. 3)The mattress is too old with slopes which caused us sleepless. We asked to fix it or change room, and finally got to moved to another room, the 2nd room mattress is better. They offered 2 cups of free wine and 2 morning breakfast for inconvenient. We...
