Little things...the bathroom mirror frame had some "paint missing" areas ... that's an easy fix, so why not do it! :) Also, most old hotels/motels near the ocean have a lingering musty smell...I wish they could figure out a way to diffuse it or eliminate it! Great place for the price."

"We were right on the beach. 2nd floor with a balcony. It was perfect. Everyone was so nice. We woke up to coffee and little snacks. All the restaurants are good. Walking distance to fish tacos and the best donut place, and a bar with weekend bands. We are going back"

"Austen's restaurant is boarded up, was red tagged by county & an eye sore thoughout the property. Under construction is no where listed on Expedia or the website. Because I had a separate reservation for next day I was told to call & check if this room would still be available for tomorrow. As told I called front desk from the room multiple times & no answer. Next day I let Macy know I had been calling all morning, she said they never got a call and would let maintenance know about the phones....

"The staff was very good. A guest checked in hiding a dog which I heard in my room so I had to change rooms. Direct TV programs run in a loop, no change of episodes. Only traditional over the air programs changed, e.g. the news."

"My room was very clean, Air worked wonderful I had to turn it off it got so cold lol and as usual all the staff was very helpful! I stay here whenever I get a chance to come to Ventura, the owner is great! The cleaning ladies are wonderful always available to help with what ever you need. It is walking distance to the beach and everything you need! I will keep coming back here!!"

"Having stayed in a pretty bad similar cost hotel just down the street the week before, this one was a breath of fresh air. Clearly recently remodeled and great for the price. The shower was a little dark and there were a couple of cracked tiles in the bathroom but the fridge was cold, the bed was fine, the desk was nice, the carpet looked new. It’s not the Grand Hyatt but it was perfectly located for what I was doing and totally fine."

"For the price I paid, I can't complain too much. The room itself was clean and comfortable, and I appreciated having an upstairs room. There were a few downsides, though. It appeared that some people associated with the property were living in vehicles on-site, which made the atmosphere feel a bit unusual. "Oh man I really didn't want to believe the bad reviews on this place, but it was so gross. Mold in the bathroom. Could hear the person next to us snoring. Just not a great place to visit"

"The property in 2 blocks from the beach, which is nice, but the photos on Expedia show beachfront. That was a disappointment. There were no Washcloths or body soap. The whirlpool tub had no plug for the drain or controls for the jets. In other words it didn't work. We enjoyed our stay and the staff was responsive, but we won’t be staying there again."
