"We absolutely loved our stay at Lone Oak Lodge. The room was very clean—finally a place with spotless floors, which we really appreciate since we don’t like wearing shoes indoors. The beds were comfortable, and the coffee was good. Honestly, what more could you need?"

"The rooms have no AC and the breakfast options are very limited. They leave the windows open for you and the room we got had a box fan, although I did see from outside the hotel that some rooms have a ceiling fan (but ours didn't). Their justification was that the weather in Monterey fluctuates and since the building is so old, there is no AC. But you can't close the window curtains fully, some parts of the windows will always be uncovered, so the room was very bright, noisy, and hot at night....

"We only stayed for one night so we did not explore the property per se. Significant renovation work was underway as installation of new stone pathways were being installed. But the work site was clearly marked and clean and quiet during our brief one-night stay. Staffler very friendly at this Budget hotel."

"Nice enough, but furniture in the room was uncomfortable. I came home with bruises on both thighs from the "stalks" on the corners of the bed which I had to make sharp turns around to avoid the other furniture. The lounge chair was so stiff and hard it gave me a backache. Asked for and received a second chair so we could both use the table. Just disappointed."

"The first night Carmel was having a heat wave and the room was extremely hot. No AC in the room and only one of the wondows open. I know this is a rare situation but it would have been nice if they had fans in the rooms for days like this. Wouldn't be much of a cost for the Inn and definitely would hve made.the night more bearable. Weather was normal after that and we had a wonderful trip. I usually stay at the Normandy Inn when my wife and I visit Carmel which is a few times a year."
