The main entrance door was hanging off when we arrived, and it was still the same throughout our stay, which doesn't create the best first impression. "Having paid for a reservation several months ago for two nights 24-26th June when I checked in I was told there was no room available. The receptionist claimed there was an IT issue but the hotel was very busy so clearly other people had been checked in. The apology was absolutely minimal, no compensation and no effort made to inform me in the days leading up to the reservation there was an issue. I found the whole experience highly unacceptable for a global corporation to behave letting me down...

"The truest test of a review is would we stay there again? The answer to that is sadly a no. Nothing particularly wrong, just not really a good value all things considered in the end. The property is well positioned in the city for access to grocery, chain restaurants, coffee houses and the #8 bus. There is a busy street, particularly popular on weekends nearby. "The room is good and of a reasonably high standard. There are however two major challenges. The room was on the top floor which from the car park is three flights of stairs. A lot when you’re carrying several large bags and clothes for a wedding. The second big issue is the hall lights on a sensitive room sensor. There is no way to switch this off or lights off. "I stayed one night and selected the hotel based on its proximity to the train station. It was an excellent choice for that, although there is some road construction going on directly around it which made rolling one’s bag a little more difficult than it would normally be.
