"The room was in the basement of the property and had a shared bathroom. I was not expecting either. From the pictures on the listing I thought I was going to get a room with a bathroom on a regular floor. My reservation was non refundable so I could not cancel it after I paid for it. The house is very clean and the owner was responsive when I expressed my surprise. However, I stayed 9 nights and the situation was not to my liking in that room. The room was very very small."

"My wife and I had a wonderful experience here. We got to have the room 7 which is at the top. We had a nice view to the street and also a small window for the sky. Breakfast was fantastic. Made by a cook at 8 am and we also had bananas, apples, juices, including a nice coffee machine. They also gave us the opportunity to leave our bags and go to explore the city in our last day. "First time staying at The Standard and it was far from that. The brutalist architecture was breathtaking, the staff friendly and accommodating, the decor is very tasteful. Food choices we found to be a little limited, but then we were eating late, so a lot of stuff had shut for food service. We wanted to try Sweeties, but it was closed for a private function, and we hadn't been made aware off. Drink prices are a little expensive, even for a central London hotel, food is extremely expensive,...

"Decent sized toom for family of 4 and location near transport was ideal. Loved the stocked mini fridge and access to coffee machine. We would stay here again. "

"Excellent location if arriving by train at Kings Cross but also very quiet inside the hotel. The rooms and furnishings are beautiful and the breakfast room is a delight as was the food itself. The hotel does have an unusual layout though, some of the side lounges look lovely but aren’t very accessible, I’d have liked to see drinks served in those areas from the posh cocktail bar but it didn’t seem to be open: maybe you can but nobody told us?
