"Check in process was great. The Inn is located in an excellent spot close to everything. Pack a small fan because if it is warm, your room will be warm. It’s very clean, but the bleach smell was overwhelming when we first walked in. The light breakfast is nice and thoughtful. "

"I love the portola! Only place I stay and travel almost monthly down to Monterey. The rooms are always clean, spacious, the beds are very comfy. Partial bay view is a must. Balcony has two chairs nice to enjoy ur coffee on or listen to some wildlife (sea lions). Basically 4 restaurants attached to the hotel, Carmel bakery n coffee inside the hotel. The location is prime! Walk right and head down Alvarado st you got ur breweries and 10-15 restaurants. Go left and you’re on the Monterey pier , 7 restaurants, a bunch of clothes ans candy shops and my favorite whale watching. I do every time and it’s so close to portola. "

"Quaint nastalgic cabin with bedrooms for two couples. Small kitchen with gas stove. Small living area with electric fireplace. Not a wood stove as pictured. Jack and Jill full bath with shower newly remodeled between bedrooms. 1/2bath in 2nd bedroom. The only hanging closet was in 2nd bedroom. No dresser in second bedroom. Main bedroom with king bed has a very small narrow dresser. No closet.The staff at the front desk was helpful when they were there. Lovely double Dutch front door. Great location can walk to most of Carmel. "
