"Very clean comfortable room with a sea view, this was larger than rooms in most hotels which we liked but would not be described as luxurious more a good quality well maintained room. From the outside the hotel does not impress but this is no indication of the quality of the room and the friendly helpful staff. The location is very close to the seafront and near to a well maintained park which has an excellent cafe. I found the seaside town quite interestingly quirky and with good weather there...

There was a small fan but the window didn't open far due to safety so we did need our own additional fans. Our only recommendation to the management would be to please sort out the shower. "This is a lovely hotel in a glorious location and very peaceful. The view form a sea-facing apartment is splendid. The main complaint would be that the decor and furnishings in the corridors and apartments are very old and tired - really they should have been updated/re-fitted 10 years ago. Some areas smell strongly of damp or mould. Otherwise, the convenience, pool and gym area, and having a kitchen in the apartment make this a worthwhile choice if you don't mind tired furnishings."

Two negatives were the dog smell in the lounge and poor state of plants in pots. While the dog smell is probably unavoidable as dogs are allowed, the dead plants brought about a depressing impression. Being a gardener, I tried to look after the remaining plants and had to transplant one huge heuchera plants that was literally hanging in the air as its pot was...

"Comfortable bed & quiet room in spite of a nearby busy road. Good breakfast. Just a slight issue with some black (?) coming off the bathroom floor tiles next to the bath, though the sink & bath were spotless."

"The hotel needs air conditioning in all bedrooms as the rooms were too hot. There were no fridges in the bedrooms to keep water cold etc which was disappointing as we had to ask for glasses of ice to do this. Staff were exceptional and the spa and swimming pool were really good. A great location on the edge of Dartmoor with access to some great walks."
