"What a great room for the family! The grounds are pretty with unique plants. There’s no pool but it’s one street to the beach. The hotel has sand buckets and folding chairs to use. On Wed evenings there’s a street market two blocks away. Great restaurants everywhere. I loved the clean, fresh-smelling pillows and sheets."

"Right off the freeway. Very convenient. However, there is traffic noise due to close proximity of freeway. I’d left the closet and bathroom doors opened to block the constant noise. Noise is reduced, but sounded like howling constant wind. I had a double queen. It’s spacious and clean. Looks like recently renovated. A small frig and table with 2 chairs. No breakfast though. "Scandia is a good place. The room is very comfortable and the people who run it are nice. The parking is good; you can be very close to your room. The location is pleasant, close to everything with lots of choices of things to do around you in Carlsbad Village or neighboring Oceanside. There is an occasional freight train or Amtrack that goes by but it adds to the charm of the village. There is a historic prep school, Army Navy Academy that has a beautiful campus with lots of old trees. ...

"This hotel didn't have anything as stated in their description. The tub leaked, the bathroom facet was loose, and we had to ask for tools and shampoo. Our feet were black from walking on the floor. To get clean towels we had to give them towels to get clean ones. The pool is under repair and not available."

"There were roaches on the floor in the bathroom and if you take a shower, the water run out the tub everywhere. It’s the way the tub was set in, you could not prevent it."
