"We don't feel this Riu should be a "Palace". It's not up to Palace standards that we've been to in Mexico. Staff barely speaks any English. Take a look at the pools in the evenings. They are filthy and weren't cleaned during our five day stay. There was mold on the walls of our family suite. We have no reason to return to this resort!"

"We had a mixed experience. The concierge was excellent—he arranged a birthday cake for my wife and made our anniversary special. However, the property feels a bit outdated. The bathroom had issues (bathtub condition, inconsistent hot/cold water, and a ceiling leak). We also experienced a couple of power outages, which was unexpected. Communication was sometimes difficult as few staff spoke English. It seems there may be a management change happening, so hopefully these issues will improve."

"Do not understand why this property has 5 stars. Although the pools and outdoor amenities are nice, the hotel rooms are insanely outdated and not well kept. Our room had a very strong smell of mold, so much so that we left the next day instead of staying for our initially planned 5 days. The bathroom was also old, shower was dirty , and toilet would run for hours and not flush. Also, food was awful in every venue we tried. "

"The resort and rooms were cockroach infested. They upgraded us to a family suite and it was just worst, we entered our room after the late night magic show to roaches running from the light. They were on the floors and walls. The rooms were filled of mold, even the pillow had mold. The bathroom fixtures are over caulked with mold and hair in the tub and sink. The pullout coach had debris on it. We left the hotel after the first night and would have left sooner if we felt secure leaving at 2am after staff was not helpful. The hotel staff was lagged in their response and had nothing to clean except a broom ( to pick up the roaches we killed). We were also on the first floor and it rained so we also had centipedes. The rooms smelled like a wet mop, and had peeling paint. Highly recommend reconsidering staying here. We moved to another hotel. They didn't refund anything after showing proof of the events and was fully aware having me at their desk til 1 am, they were not helpful. "

"Food was good. 1 hostess was rude. Room was clean, staff members were nice. Bars and breakfast were great. 1 thing went wrong the lock jammed screws popped out to the toilet room which i could not get out for 25 minutes until 1 of my friends went to get help."
