The aesthetic blends castle feel (gold mirrors, beautiful wooden buttresses, textured wallpaper) with fabulous modern touches (lighting and tiling). We stayed in suite 27 and it had luxurious touches throughout (copper bathtub, double headed shower, new tiling, beautiful new bed) mixed with remnants of the castle feel (tapestry headboard and ancient well (secured) . "The mattress on the bed was terrible for me (felt like a really old sprung mattress, with little support). No breakfast on weekdays, which is a pain. Otherwise the room and bathroom were fine. Didn't use the pub downstairs but looked fine."
