The Charles is close to the Presidio, Cannery Row, Fisherman's wharf, beaches, great restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques. Our son is stationed at the Presidio, so we will definitely be back and will stay at The Charles!"

"It’s about the view and location with this one. Sitting on the patio overlooking the water was definite highlight. This hotel is quite dated as others have said, and in many cases is quite rundown. Our room had a musty smell to it. The bathroom is sizable with lots of full length mirrors. It’s very nice that they deliver breakfast which is quite basic, but we appreciated that the fruit was very fresh. It was is super easy to walk everywhere in Monterey. "

"The hotel's location is superb--close to the Aquarium and Cannery Row shops and restaurants. The room was comfortable and the bathroom spacious. The coffee in the room was the best ever. Outside are two fire pits that you can enjoy with the snacks they give you upon arrival. Parking is extra but very convenient!"
