"Fantastic location. Ideal for what we needed but also really rural-feeling and peaceful. We found it quiet and charming. We enjoyed wandering in amongst the old orchard and down through the copse, across the scrubland that forms part of the floodplain of the Tyne. It was good to know there are badgers around although we weren’t lucky enough to see anyway. The dawn chorus was impressive. Very pleasant indeed. Definitely will book again if we’re back in the area. "

"Staff were great, the hotel looked stunning and the grounds were amazing. The breakfast was delicious too. The room we had was in the attic so I kept hitting my head, the main light in the room was above the doorway which was around a corner so didn’t really help at all. There was water and hair in the bottom of the shower when we arrived as if someone had only just had a shower. There were patches of damp in the room around the window and on the ceiling."

"The hotel is a delightful experience. It is in a quiet location overlooking Chester-le-Street, but within walking distance of the town and Riverside Park. The room was comfortable and clean. The decor is in keeping with the theme of the castle, and well maintained. Reception, bar and restaurant staff are very friendly and helpful. "Stayed in room 103, lovely room nice and clean and well serviced, but noisy. Very noisy above the bar, had a private party on Saturday night until midnight, I could feel the bass no sleep I don't think the room should be let under the circumstances, anywhere on the first floor, also 103 is by the lift and exit door, so people walking and talking past the door all night, so my advice is if you'd like a peaceful night's sleep then avoid this room, a shame as I've stayed here before on the 2nd...

"While we were only there for one night it was a treat to be able to have gotten one of the few rooms within the castle itself. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The food was delicious and they were very accommodating to my husband's dietary limitations. The only thing they forgot was having my bear knight and chocolates ready in my room but that's just a minor thing and I did ask for it just the day before so not a big deal once I asked."

"Basic hotel, but clean room and comfortable bed. Staff really friendly and helpful. Stay included breakfast, but limited really to takeaway style bags in which to take your choices to your room, or sit at small tables in reception. Would probably give it a miss if staying again. Location is in the middle of large industrial estate, so whilst its cheap, and ok just to put your head down for a night or two, it is limited in what it can offer to tourists."
