"This hotel I in the midst of a full renovation. So this review is based purely in the condition of the hotel right now. The hotel location is perfect. Right on the West Cliff overlooking the sea, whale bones and abbey. The new hotel bar is exceptional. The rooms are perfectly adequate for a short stay. They do need a refurb and that is happening as we speak. I have to say though, that the prices seem to reflect that. They are not charging 5 star prices. The staff throughout the hotel are...

"This is a room in a pub. But our room was to a high standard and almost large enough to be a suite. Absolutely in the centre of Whitby. Breakfast was good and hearty too. Could do with more power sockets in the room, though."

"A lovely stay at the Saxonville. Staff couldn’t have done more. Every area was spotless and everything you need in the rooms. Exceptional breakfast. Will definitely return. "

"Lovely large house with self contained rooms which had everything you would need for an overnight stay The actual house was warm when we arrived but our room was freezing. There was a radiator in the room but it was off and didn't come on when the valve was turned to warm We were actually sat with our coats on before we left to go out"

"The Nutshell is a lovely little place, perfect for a stay in Whitby. Great location close to the harbour and town centre. Very clean and everything you need, hob, oven and all crockery and utensils. Nice feel to the place, makes you feel like you’re at the seaside. Great communication with the owners. Would 100% stay again. I was there for a week and had a wonderful time."

"Absolutely lovely cottage, clean, cosy and in the perfect location. We have had a great time. Very steep stairs inside the property and a fairly short bed so if you are super tall with mobility problems it might be difficult but for us it was perfect."
