"I think they do have updated rooms, I just wasn’t in one. It felt like the room was nice… 30 years ago. I was also told I had free breakfast at check-in but then told I didn’t when I tried to get it. Further, when I tried to get my free drink at the rooftop bar, they gave me a very small menu, our treatment was degraded, and they didn’t even offer us peanuts or water even though they did for everyone else around us. I would not recommend this hotel unless I was coming for work, which seems to be...

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and got to sample almost all the onsens on offer. The rooms were well maintained and stocked with amenities. We appreciated the convenient and free shuttle service to go to dinner. Staff were friendly and spoke great english. The QR booking system for the onsens was easy to use."

"As beautiful as how you see in the pictures! Our stay in Uji was memorable because of staying in this hotel. Highlights were the helpfulness of the staff, cleanliness of the hotel, breakfast, spacious room with the beautiful and relaxing view of Uji river. The best hotel and experience in all our travels in Japan!"

"Although the building itself is a bit dated and in need of an upgrade, in particular the air conditioning system and some of the decor.
There were some good things. The shower pressure was insane. Loved that there's also a speaker in the bathroom so you can hear whatever is on your TV.
The continental lounge extra was good for extra meals in the morning and dinner which included alcohol. I'd say it's worth the price.
Extremely comfortable beds too, quilts and pillows too!"
